Surf’s Up first Birthday Party

I can’t believe my baby boy is already ONE! Where does the time go?? We had so much fun celebrating him over the weekend and I’m so excited to finally share all of the details from his surf-themed party!

The Theme

It took me a while to figure out what theme to do for Grey’s party. I have always been such a girl mom so figuring out this boy mom thing has taken me a bit longer. While scrolling Pinterest, I fell in love with the surf theme and it all pieced together from there.

The Invitations

I designed the invitations in Canva and also printed them there. It was super easy and I did it all through the app on my phone. For the envelopes, I ordered these blue envelopes from Amazon and sealed them with the cutest face stickers of Grey from Etsy.

A Year Of Grey

I worked with my friend Mariah over at Berries & Bird to create this layered surf board milestone board. I am obsessed with it and loved having it on display at the party to show how much Grey has grown this year.

The Party Favors

For the party favors, I bought a pack of these children’s sunglasses from Amazon. The colors matched the theme perfectly and they were a hit with the kids. To complete the look, I tied DIY mini pennants on them using a print from Thread Mama with some of my favorite yarn from Michaels.

The Table

For the table, I used a coordinating table cloth from Target and added party goods from Ellie & Piper. I layered the plates and napkins and added some faux greenery to the plates that I found in the Target Dollar Spot. To complete the look, I added a custom confetti mix from Lauren Glass Designs and retro motel keychains from Berries & Bird.

The Dessert

The cookies and cake were both made by Pink Petunia Baking Co. 10/10 recommend if you’re in the DFW area! The cake toppers were custom made from Berries & Bird.

The Backdrop

I always have to make the backdrop the star of the show! The fringe backdrop was made by Oh My Darling Party Co. For the balloons, I opted for making my own using a DIY kit from CherCanDoit. Last but most certainly not least, I added the surf board sign, which is actually a cutting board that I found on Amazon. I then added his name, which Berries & Bird cut for me.

For the highchair, I made a custom garland by tie-dying fabric and tearing strips. I then tied the strips onto this macramé garland from Amazon.

Of course, the gifts had to match the theme! I found this tropical paper at Michaels and the striped paper at Hobby Lobby. I then added items from my craft stash to complete the look.

Last but not least, I decorated our playhouse for the kids to enjoy during the party. The balloon garland was made using the left over balloons from the balloon garland inside. I added in a DIY surfboard made from cardboard and a DIY sign made from a wooden blank from Michaels. To complete the look, I added in the mini doormat, which was custom made by Nickel Designs.
